Competition tough for Post #1 in second day of L&C Classic by Jim Prosser The results of the second day of competition in the Lewis & Clark Wooden Bat Classic follows.
At Yankton Riverside: Yankton def. Blair 3-1; Sioux Falls West def. Blair 13-0; Sioux Falls West def. Papillion 4-0; Papillion def. Yankton 5-1.
At Vermillion Prentis Park: Omaha Bryan def. Vermillion 11-0; Norfolk def. Valley Springs 10-0; Omaha Bryan def. Valley Springs 5-0; Spearfish def. Lennox 10-2; Spearfish def. Vermillion 10-1.
In the first game of day two, Post #1 had another bad time, this one against Omaha Bryan as three pitchers were unable to curb the onslaught of 11 runs when six hits and three errors, seven walks, and three hit batters contributed to the loss.
B.J. Campbell went two innings, giving up four runs on two hits and two team errors for the losing pitcher designation. Ben Oberle followed with Jason Donald closing.
The offense was Campbell who went 2 for 3, Oberle, 1 for 3, and Eric Chase, 1 for 3.
The fifth and final game of day two was a late night humiliation for the Vermillionites. Donald pitched the complete five-inning game and gave up 10 runs on nine hits while the team was charged with four errors.
The team offense was involved in three hits and one run � Chris Case had a walk and a single, scoring the run. Campbell was 1 for 2, one RBI; Zach Weisz had the other hit.
