Dog show begins Saturday Dog lovers are reminded that the Sioux Valley American Kennel Club Dog Show will be held Saturday and Sunday at the Clay County Fairgrounds in Vermillion.
Approximately 1,300 dogs will be participating.
The shows will be begin at 9 a.m. Saturday, and 8 a.m. Sunday.
There will be approximately six show rings. Different breeds of dog will be shown, and judges will pick the best of each breed.
There are seven basic groups of dogs. Starting at approximately 2:30 p.m. each afternoon, the best of breed winning dogs will compete for first place in their group.
The first place winners of each group will then compete for best of show.
Groups of dogs that will compete on the two days are: working dogs, herding dogs, sporting dogs, non-sporting dogs, terriers, toys and hounds.
Another major component of the show will be an obedience competition.
