Post #1 baseball team ends losing streak by Jim Prosser On Friday, June 18, Post #1 finally broke their losing streak when they defeated Alcester in both ends of a doubleheader at the Alcester ball field.

Jason Donald was the first game winner going three innings, giving up four runs on five hits, walking one, and registering two Ks.

B.J. Campbell relieved and got the save with his three-inning stint, giving up two runs on three hits, with three BBs and two Ks. Final score was 13-6.

Offensive stats were: B.J. Campbell � 3 for 3, two runs, one rbi; Eric Chase � 2 for 4, two runs, one rbi; Chris Chase � 2 for 4, two runs; scoring one run each were � Ben Oberle, Jared Burcham, Brandon Hansen, and Ryan Mockler who went 2 for 2 with a homerun and two RBIs.

In game two, Vermillion matched the hitting output by Alcester (eight runs each), but won the conflict 9-2. Brad Schaack was the starter giving up two runs on eight hits, four Ks, and BB and a team defensive two errors.

Offense for Post #1 included Oberle � 3 for 4, two runs; Burcham � 1 for 3, one run; Campbell � 2 for 4, three runs, two RBIs; Jordan Anderson � 1 for 2, one run, one rbi; Eric Chase � 1 for 3, one run; Schaack aided the cause driving in a run with a hit which ended the scoring.

Vermillion Post #1 traveled to Irene for a one-game contest on Sunday, June 20 where they lost 11-4. Eric Chase was the losing pitcher giving up six runs on eight hits, two walks and seven Ks. Oberle finished up for three innings surrendering five runs on four hits while striking out three batters.

Scoring for Post #1: Burcham � 2 for 5, one run; Eric Chase � 1 for 4, one run; and Chris Chase � 1 for 3, two runs, two RBIs.

The teams' season record is 2 wins, 8 losses.
