Sioux Falls West declared winner of baseball classic

Sioux Falls West declared winner of baseball classic by Jim Prosser The results of the final day of competition in the Lewis & Clark Classic had the following matches:

At Yankton: Spearfish def. Yankton 7-6; Omaha Bryan def. Lennox 5-0; Papillion def. Lennox 17-0.

At Vermillion: Blair def. Valley Springs 13-5; Norfolk def. Sioux West 12-5; Norfolk def. Vermillion 11-0.

West was pronounced the winner of the tourney with their 4-1 record. Vermillion was able to stop the no-hit shut-out by producing consecutive hits from Ben Oberle and Ryan Mockler. Brad Schaack took the loss, giving up 11 runs on nine hits and four team errors.

The tournament records were: Sioux Falls West, 4-1; Spearfish, 4-1; Papillion, 4-1; Omaha Bryan, 4-1; Norfolk, 3-2; Blair, 2-3; Yankton, 2-3; Lennox 1-4; Vermillion, 0-5; Valley Springs, 0-5.
