Vermillion Teeners lose two, win two; record is now 3-5 by Jim Prosser The Vermillion Teener baseball team played a doubleheader against Sioux Falls East on Thursday, June 10 at Prentis Park in Vermillion.
The first game was a 4-4 tie going into the sixth inning, but the visitors came up with a three-run advantage and Vermillion couldn't match it and lost 7-4. C.J. Haakinson was the losing pitcher.
Offensive stats for the home team include Tyler Thedorff � one run, one hit, one rbi; Sam Laprath � 1 for 2, one run; Ryan Husby � one run; Paul Hammond � one run.
Game two was no contest with Vermillion losing when East scored in every inning to dominate the home team. Bobby Dykstra pitched a complete game and took the loss.
Offensively: Ryan Gilbertson went 3 for 3, scoring one run; Laprath was 1 for 3 with a run scored; Dykstra scored one with 1 for 3 batting; and Dan Storm scored twice.
On Sunday, June 13 the Vermillion Teener team traveled to Tyndall where they faced the Missouri Valley combined team in a doubleheader and came away with two wins.
In the first game, the visitors fell behind 3-1 after three innings, then rallied for four runs in the fourth, and held on for a 5-4 final score. Jeff Donnelly was the winning pitcher and also scored two runs on 1 for 3 batting with one rbi.
Other offensive player statistics include: Casey Carlson � one run; Nick Rasmussen � 1 for 2, one run; and Lyndon Sams � 2 for 3, one run, one rbi.
Sams pitched the second game and collected a 6-2 win for his contribution. Six Vermillion players scored single runs in the contest: Paul Hammond � 2 for 3, one run, one rbi; Donnelly � 1 for 2, one run, two RBIs; Ryan Husby � 1 for 3, one run, one rbi; Haakinson, Carlson, and Sams each scored a run.
The Teener team season record stands at 3 wins, 5 losses.
