Vermillion Teeners split games with Elk Point by Jim Prosser The Teener baseball team split a double header with Elk Point on Saturday, June 5 at Prentis Park in Vermillion.
Game one was an up and down competition as Vermillion built a 10-6 lead after three innings. It was short lived when a wild streak at the plate and a couple singles, gave the visitors a six-run fourth inning and a final 13-11 Elk Point win.
The Redbirds employed four pitchers in the game � C.J. Haakinson, Ryan Husby, Jordan Merrigan, and Paul Hammond (who was charged with the loss).

Game two became a laugher with Vermillion building a 10-2 advantage after three innings, and while EP scored four runs in the fourth inning, they never threatened again. Laprath was the winning pitcher going six innings giving up eight hits, and seven runs, walking four and registering five Ks.

Offensively: Hammond scored a run on 1 for 4 batting; Jeff Donnelly scored twice; Gilbertson went 2 for 3 with three runs; Laprath went 2 for 4 scoring once; McPherson � 1 for 5, two runs; Dykstra reached base three times and scored three; Husby went 2 for 2, one run; Haakinson was on base five times (a single and four walks), scoring a run.
