Wakonda students compete Thirty-six Wakonda students competed in the Pepsi¨ Major League Baseball¨ Pitch, Hit & RunTM Competition hosted by the Wakonda Jaycees on May 19 at Wakonda School.
The following participants won first place honors in their respective age groups:

The winners competed in the sectional competition May 22 in Pierre. Sectional all-around champions become eligible to qualify for the team championship to be held at Houston.
Matt Brue, son of Harlan and Brenda Bure of Wakonda, was the state hitting champion.
Pitch, Hit & RunTM is a baseball skills competition that allows youngsters to showcase their talents in pitching, hitting and running with scores determined by individual performances in each skills event.
