2004 Public Presentation Contest held The Clay County 4-H Demonstration, Illustrated Talk and Public Speaking Contest was held Wednesday, July 14 at the 4-H Center in Vermillion. Eight members from Clay and Yankton counties participated in the contest.
Four-H members from Vermillion receiving purple ribbons for Public Speaking were Ellen Kennedy, "Counting to Six" and Taylor Geu, "Let's Use Our Heads." Emily Miller of Irene was awarded a blue ribbon for her public speaking presentation, "All I Ever Learned, I Learned in Kindergarten."
Purple ribbon Illustrated Talk presentations were presented by Pearl Gaidelis of Wakonda, "Horse Breeds" and Emily Miller of Irene, "When Good Drugs Go Bad." A blue ribbon was awarded to Kelsy Fallan of Vermillion for her talk "Canning Safety."
A purple ribbon was awarded to Jana Bye, Vermillion, and Morgan Erickson, Gayville, for their team demonstration, "Make it Yours."
Purple ribbon winners will advance to the South Dakota State Fair competition in Huron Sept. 4-7. Dawn Stoner, Yankton, served as judge for the contest.
