Daschle will host community lunch Sen. Tom Daschle will discuss his efforts to bring new jobs to South Dakota and decrease the cost of health care during a community lunch in Vermillion. The event will begin at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 10 at North Prentis Park and is free and open to the public.

"I'm looking forward to meeting with Vermillion residents to discuss how we can lower the cost of health care for all South Dakotans and create new, high-quality jobs in Vermillion and throughout our state," Daschle said.
In the Senate, Daschle is working to lower the cost of health care for all South Dakotans by creating purchasing pools where individuals and small businesses can buy quality insurance at lower rates. Daschle is also working in a bipartisan way to allow the purchase of lower cost prescription drugs from Canada, and is committed to increasing funding for community health centers and rural health clinics.
"When I travel around South Dakota I hear too many stories of families losing health coverage when they need it the most or being forced to reduce coverage because of escalating premiums. I refuse to accept a health care system that renders our families one accident or illness away from financial ruin," Daschle said. "I am committed to providing every South Dakotans with access to high-quality health insurance at an affordable price, and bringing down the skyrocketing costs of prescription drugs."
Daschle will also discuss his efforts to expand economic opportunities.
"We need good job opportunities for our kids and our families," Daschle said. "That means supporting the small businesses more likely to be located on Main Street than Wall Street. By working together, I know we can unlock the potential for economic growth and prosperity that exists in communities like Vermillion."
