Irish enter league tourney; win over Flyers in rematch by Jim Prosser The Vermillion U-18 Irish were entered in the Dakota Softball League Tournament on July 10-11 with all games played at the USD field complex.
The opponent in the first scheduled game cancelled so a bye moved the Irish softball team to the second round where they met the winner of the Gayville-Volin/YRC Fl contest, which turned out to be Yankton's River City Flyers. Having just lost a doubleheader in Yankton last Thursday, the Irish were determined to reverse the outcomes � and they did � 14-4.
Whitney Tolsma was the winning pitcher as she gave up four runs on four hits

Walker hit two inside the park homeruns, the second gave the team their 14th run and Joy had an inside the park homer with two girls on base to set up Walker's heroics.
