Irish top EP/J with awesome offense by Jim Prosser The local U-18 Irish softball team entertained the Elk Point/Jefferson team on June 22 at the armory field in Vermillion.
Game one was a three-inning 15-0 blowout for Sandy Bouck as she shut down EP/J on a one-hit shutout.
The Irish offense was awesome! Stats include: Erin Corner � 2 for 2, two runs, one RBI; Kelsie Austin � two runs on 2 for 2 hits, one rbi; Colette Joy � 1 for 2, one run; Heather Walker � 2 for 2, two runs, one rbi; Whitney Tolsma � 2 for 2, one run, 5 rbis (including a bases-loaded homerun); Paige Prosser � 2 for 2, two runs, two rbis; Bouck � 1 for 2, one rbi; and Megan Deaver � 1 for 1, two runs; Brittney Campbell � 1 for 2; one run; Brooke Nelson � 2 for 2, one run, two rbis.
Game two was another high-scoring affair but it took five innings to get the job done. Tolsma started and went two innings giving up four runs on two hits, three bases on balls, one error and four Ks. Bouck pitched a no-hit inning, and Campbell finished up, surrendering two runs on one hit, one BB, and one K.
Whitney claimed the win since her teammates scored six runs during her two-inning stint. She also shined at bat, going 2 for 3 with one rbi and two runs scored.
Joy was 1 for 3 with one run; Corner went 2 for 3, one run, one rbi; Austin � 1 for 3, one run, one rbi; O'Connor � two runs; Walker � 1 for 2, two runs, one rbi; Nelson � 2 for 3, three runs, two rbis; Campbell � one run; Deaver � 1 for 3, one run, one rbi; and Prosser � 3 for 3, two rbis (including the winning run in the fifth inning to end the 10-run rule 16-6!
