Jan Grage named June employee of month at USD Jan Grage, secretary for the University Housing Department at The University of South Dakota has been selected as the Career Service Employee of the Month for June. University of South Dakota President James W. Abbott presented the award on April 6 in the University Room of Old Main.
Grage was nominated for the award by supervisor Mary Lou Christopherson, based on her willingness to go the extra mile, ability to accept additional duties without hesitation, and her over all can do attitude.
"Jan has been an employer's support dream," said Christopherson. "She is a perfectionist and it shows in the way she handles her job. Her records are always accurate and in order and she always confirms changes to policy in order to assure she gives out accurate up to date information."
Christopherson further noted that, "Jan is truly a 'special' one of a kind co-worker, friend, and valuable member of the University Housing Department."
When asked about her job and being named the June Employee of the Month, Grage replied, "I like to work with the international population and I also work with several very nice people."
Grage has worked at the university since November of 2000.
Grage and her husband, Dave, have been married for 31 years and now reside in rural Burbank. Dave works with facilities management and they have two sons and two daughters: Brandon, Jeremy, Melanie and Kayleen.
