New council will take office Dan Christopherson will be installed as mayor and Mary Edelen, Kent Osborne, Jack Powell and Ray Hofman will take the oath of office as Vermillion aldermen at the regular meeting of the Vermillion City Council, scheduled 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 6 in city hall.
Before they take office, however, the current city council has business it must complete. It will hold a hearing on the continuation of the appeal of the building inspector's decision regarding a home at 432 High Street.
Business before the new council includes election of council officers, determination of rules of order, and a public hearing on a petition for zoning change between West Duke and West S.D. Highway 50.
New business includes a request for temporary street closing for Vermillion Fun Daze, a resolution designating the city project and certifying officer, opt-out, and the city manager's report.
