USD receives funds for alcohol risk research Sen. Tom Daschle recently announced that The University of South Dakota will receive a $227,354 grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism. These funds will support research on the risks
of alcohol-related problems among college students.
"Excessive alcohol consumption poses a threat to college students' physical and emotional well-being," said Daschle. "The research supported by this grant will help us better understand the nature of this threat, and its possible remedies."
The National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism provides leadership in the reduction of alcohol-related programs by conducting and supporting research on the health risks of excessive alcohol consumption.
