Pierre ready for visitors People coming to Pierre for the dedication of the Korean War Memorial on Saturday, Sept. 18, will have no problem finding something good to eat when they arrive.
"We want visitors to know that a variety of cafes and restaurants in Pierre and Fort Pierre will be open and ready to serve our guests that day," said Gov. Mike Rounds. "We only ask that large groups and tour buses call ahead to make arrangements so that restaurants can prepare to serve the people they are bringing," he said.
In addition, several temporary food vendors are setting up booths near the Capitol Complex to help serve guests on Sept. 18.
"We want to assure everyone that there will be opportunities to enjoy a meal, snack, or refreshment at local eating establishments," Rounds said. "Our local businesses are also ready to help serve the groups that will attend the dedication, such as marching band students, veterans' organizations, and tour bus groups," he said.
Veterans and their families should register for the dedication events by calling the Korean War Memorial hotline at 1-800-577-5152 or visiting http: //koreanwarmemorial.sd.gov/.
