Cross country teams compete in Augie/Eros Invitational by Jim Prosser Both the Tanager girls' and boys' cross country teams ran at the Augustana/EROS Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 11.
The event was a 4000 M (girls) and 5000 M (boys) at the EROS Data Center Campus layout.
Twenty-eight schools from a wide three-state area competed in both divisions, 130 individual girl runners, and 138 boys.
The top two teams in the 4K race were Sioux Falls Roosevelt and Yankton. Yankton's Ramsey Kavan won the girls' run with a time of 14:24.2. Vermillion placed out of money but the Tanager girls' individual place results were: 25th � Katarina Gombocz; 55th � Emily Renner; 77th � Rebecca Girlinghouse; 116th � Sarah Plate. Competing for Vermillion in the girls' JV run were Sarah Day (89th); Amber Zalud (106th); Steffani Donahoe (120th); and Julie Renner (129th).
The boys' top two teams for the 5K meter run were Rapid City Stevens and Yankton. Ben Fiedler (Yank) 17:31.5 was the champion.
Vermillion ran an incomplete team in the varsity division. Tanager placers were: 55th � Chad Teigen; and 92th � Chris Teigen.
The boys' JV division included a Tanager team of seven runners who placed 11th in the team standings. Individual placers were: Michael Preszler (37th); C.J. Harden (47th); Jeff Donnelly (66th); Brody Stone (75th); Raleigh Tiahrt (81st); J.R. Moore (84th); and Tony Hubert (94th).
