Donate gift items for U.S. troops It is hoped that the community will join the Wakonda American Legion Auxiliary in remembering our troops in Iraq. Many of our finest young men and women are serving their country and we would like to send them gifts that they can enjoy and that will bring them some joy and relief from their difficult situation.
Many of our soldiers have been enjoying this treat, but many more can certainly be remembered. If you have a family member or know of someone who might enjoy a treat box, please notify anyone in the Legion Auxiliary or call Ruth Williams at 267-2678 with a name and mailing address so that we can send them a gift. We would like to pack them at our meeting on Monday, Nov. 1. If you are interested in joining the organization please join us at our meeting on any first Monday of the month at 7:30 p.m. at the Wakonda Heritage multi purpose room.
It was felt that the community might enjoy the opportunity to help in this endeavor and we are giving you the opportunity to bring gifts that can be mailed. Please leave them in the drop boxes at the bank or the Community Cafe in Wakonda.
Some suggested items are as follows: Tea bags, sweetened dry Kool-aid, jerky, frisbees, nerf balls, peronal items, hard candy, magazines, and anything that you might think of that they might enjoy eating that can be shipped or anything to help pass their free time.
