Obituaries Joel Wayne Parker

Joel Wayne Parker, 56, Vermillion, died Aug. 30, 2004, at Sunset Manor in Irene. He was born Sept. 5, 1947, in Wagner, to Iona Esther Sorensen Parker and Clifford Wayne Parker.

Graveside services for the family were held at Lakeview Cemetery in Lake Andes on Sept. 4, officiated by Rev. Ciesel of Wagner. Mr. Parker was laid to rest beside his mother Iona Parker Jensen.

A life celebration memorial service was held on Sept. 7 by caring members and friends of SESDAC in Vermillion at the United Church of Christ, officiated by Pastor Steve Miller.

He is survived by two sisters, Carolyn McBride of Edmonds, WA, and Jane Torkelson of Vermillion; one niece, Tracy Ferguson of Pontotoc, MS; and two nephews, Brian Kelley of Edmonds, WA and Jeff Torkelson of Davie, FL.

He was proceeded in death by his parents and his uncle, Bruce Kelley, of Edmonds, WA.

Roseann Ericson

Roseann Ericson died Sept. 2, 2004 in the presence of her husband and daughter. She was born on Dec. 22, 1932 in Vermillion, to Lyman and Dorothy Hinchliff. She was one of four children in this family. She graduated from Vermillion High School in 1950.

She met her husband, Roger Ericson, while he was attending The University of South Dakota in Vermillion. They were married on Aug. 26, 1951 and were blessed with a son, Rick, and a daughter, Susan. The family moved to South San Francisco, CA in 1961 and have remained there since that time.

Mrs. Ericson was a member of Our Redeemers Lutheran Church since 1962. She served on the Congregation Council, various committees, and always took an active part in all charitable activities. She was an active member of the South San Francisco Women's Club for many years, enjoying the friendship of the members and club activities.

Survivors include her husband, Roger; a son, Rick; a daughter, Susan and her husband, Steve Michal; two grandsons, Eric and Kevin Michal; a twin sister, Louann and her husband, Doran Lambert; two brothers, Richard and Philip Hinchliff; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Sept. 18 at Our Redeemers Lutheran Church in South San Francisco. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in memory of Roseann Ericson to VNA Hospice Foundation, 700 S. Claremont St., San Mateo, CA 94401 or Our Redeemers Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, 609 Southwood Dr., South San Francisco, CA 94080.
