'One Book South Dakota' features The Art of Mending Vermillion Public Library will again be offering patrons the opportunity to participate in "One Book South Dakota," a program that encourages people from all over the state to read and discuss the same book.
Last year was the first year for the program, and over 1,000 people from across the state participated in the reading discussions for last year's book, Peace Like a River by Leif Enger.
This year, "One Book South Dakota" participants will be reading and discussing The Art of Mending by Elizabeth Berg. The Art of Mending is a New York Times bestseller, American Library Association Best Books of the Year winner, a New England Booksellers Award recipient, and an Oprah Book Club selection.
Those interested in participating in "One Book South Dakota" can check out a copy of The Art of Mending at the library circulation desk. The discussion will take place at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 19, and will be led by Jamie Sullivan, a Mount Marty College professor.
"One Book South Dakota" was made possible with a grant from the South Dakota Humanities Council and the South Dakota Center for the Book.
