Tanager middle school football defeats Lennox by Jim Prosser The seventh- and eighth- grade footballers faced Lennox in a dual game format played at the VHS field on Saturday Sept. 11. Both games ended with a win for the Vermillion teams, but they weren't easy!
The seventh-graders scored on their first possession, then counted on the defense to contain the opposition (which they did) to garner the 6-0 hard fought victory. Here are some statistics for the game:
First downs 6 Rushes/yds 13/100
Pass yards 14

You can see that the defense did a stellar job when I tell you that 15 members of the team were in on stops.
The eight graders were faced with a different situation, scoring on two consecutive running plays and a short pass play, building a 20-0 halftime lead.
The Lennox team responded with a dominating defense and effective offense to control the second half, and scored 16 points. It took some heroic stands late in the game to salvage the 20-16 win for Vermillion.
