Tanagers host annual cross country invite by Jim Prosser The Tanagers held their annual cross country invitational on Saturday, Sept. 17, at the Don Baker Memorial Course in Vermillion. Five teams were entered in four divisions � boys and girls varsity and JV.
The winner of the 5K run was Heelan's Anthony Oberle in 18:16 minutes. Andrew Manning placed second for the Tanagers and Chad Teigen came in fifth. Other local finishers were: Chris Teigen (12th); Michael Preszler (15th); and C.J. Harden (19th).
The girls' 4K was won by Sierra McCauley of Heelan. Emma Erickson from Gayville was second and Katarina Gombocz came in third for Vermillion. Other placers for the Tanagers were: Emily Renner (seventh); Rebecca Girlinghouse (12th); Morgan Brooks (15th); Annie Carlson (16th); and Sarah Plate (20th).
Keely Gill (Heelan) won the JV 3K and Vermillion's Sarah Day was third. Also finishing for the Tanagers: Amber Zalud (12th); Julie and Katie Renner (19th and 20th); Steffani Donahoe (23rd); and Samantha Cooper (30th).
The JV 4000M run was won by the Tanager's J.R. Moore � 16:28. D.J. Donahoe (fifth); Brody Stone (seventh); Jeff Donnelly (12th); and Raleigh Tiahrt (16th) were the top five finishers for Vermillion. Other participants in the run for the Tanagers were Dan Day, Tony Huber, Michael Dendinger, Tevin Boehrns, and Sam Robinson.
