VHS volleyball team defeats Gayville/Volin by Jim Prosser The Vermillion volleyball team blasted Gayville/Volin Sept. 2, when they swept the varsity match, 25-17, 25-9, 25-8, as a measure of revenge for last season's match. Coach Billberg summed up the night- "We were the clear favorite and we finally showed it," coach Billberg said. "As a team, we moved the ball around, staying aggressive throughout."
The leading scorers for the varsity team were: Annie Carlson � 8 kills, 7 digs, 16 passes, 16 attacks, 16 assists, 16 sv pts, 4 aces; Melissa Olson recorded 3 kills, 3 blocks, 1 dig, 8 attacks; Ellen Odson led the offense with 20 sv pts, and 7 aces; Michelle Olson � 6 digs, 2 kills, 3 blocks, and 7 attacks; and Heather Walker had 9 attacks, 5 kills, 6 digs, 11 sv pts, 5 aces.
