VMS FB season starts with a split

VMS FB season starts with a split by Jim Prosser In a double header involving Vermillion Middle School and the West Central seventh- and eighth-grade football teams, played in the VHS practice field on Thursday, Sept. 9, the results were variable.

The seventh graders won 14-6; the eighth graders lost 35-6.

Here are the summaries of the two games.

Seventh grade: Offense � Kylen Freidel, 20 yds; Jordan Robinson, 77 yds; Tanner Mart, 70 yds, 7 yd TD; Bennet Johnson, 20 yds, 4 yd TD.

Defense: Nick Mart , Jordan Robinson, and Ben Knutson, 5 tackles each; Nick Anglin, Garrit Heine, Brian Hansen, and Jason Rasmussen each recorded 4 Ts; Knutson had a QB sack.

The eighth-graders played hard in their opening game at home, said Coach Jamie Parish.

"Offensively, we were lead on the ground by Tony Thomas who scored our only TD, and Andrew Eidem who broke two long runs � a kick-off return, and a reverse play. Greg Anderson and Lance Hubert had receptions in the effort."

Defensively: Andrew Eidem had 6 Ts; Chris Cameron � 4 Ts; while Michael Oberle, Tyler

Johnson, and Corey Taggart each recorded 8!
