Warriorettes ready to serve up winning season by Amber Skjonsberg With 21 players out for volleyball this season the Warriorettes are confident that they can beat last year's record of 10-17.
Mrs. Pollman and the new assistant coach Stacy Lyso have had the girls improving their skills throughout the summer. They have gone to camps, open gyms, and with over half the team out for basketball you know they've been keeping in shape.
Five of last year's starters graduated; however, five letterwinners from last year are expected to start. These new starters of this season are Erin Spurrell, Kelli Morrison, Meghan Martz, Ashley Anderson, Tiffany Ganschow and Jessica Peterson.
With the high expectations of coach Pollman and coach Lyso, the girls have a lot of weight on their shoulders. But nothing they can't handle, because along with their coaches they also have high expectations for themselves.
"We expect great victories from our new found team unity," said senior Erin Spurrell.
Having the Warriorettes first two games this past week (results not available at press time), the girls are done with their first game jitters and ready to play some hard core, intense volleyball we all know they can play.
Their next game will be held on Sept. 7 against Irene here at Wakonda. The JV game will start at 6:30 p.m. and the varsity game will start at 8 p.m.
