Coyotes win home opener The South Dakota women's volleyball team (8-9, 2-1 NCC) made the most of its 2004 home opener in the DakotaDome, as it swept conference rival Minnesota State (5-10, 0-3 NCC), 3-0 (30-18, 30-28, 30-28).
The Coyotes, who blew out MSU in the first game and had to battle for the next two, benefited from 31 hitting errors by the Mavericks and 10 blocks to garner their second conference win.
USD outhit MSU, .209 to .134, but Mavericks did manage 53 kills to 46 for the Coyotes.
Senior Lindsey Soukup (Lincoln, NE) led the Coyotes with her 10th double-double of the season. She had a team-high 12 kills to go along with 14 digs.
Angela Prochaska (Waterbury, NE) added 10 kills for USD and Liz Selzer (Papillion, NE) had 33 assists, as well as two aces in the match.
Kristen Miller (Papillion, NE) was the team leader in digs with 19, while Lacey Ross (Omaha, NE) had 18.
The Mavericks' Tiffany Graham led all players with 17 kills. Melanie Jude had 42 assists, while Stef Sandstrom led MSU with 27 digs.
