Health screenings at Trinity Lutheran

Health screenings at Trinity Lutheran Health screenings will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church on Friday, Oct. 15 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Screenings will be provided by the Sioux Valley Vermillion Medical Center and Sioux Valley Partners in Prevention.

Call 624-2611 ext. 496 to pre-register. The screenings are sponsored by the Health Ministry of Trinity Lutheran and United Methodist churches.

The screenings include:

* Total Cholesterol, HDL (good cholesterol), TC/HDL Ratio, Glucose (no fast required) = $19.

* Lung Test (Spirometry) � Measures the amount of air you can blow out and how fast you can blow it � a predictor of lung health = $10.

* Vascular Screen = $69 ��The Vascular Screening is a group of non-invasive ultrasound tests designed to evaluate blood vessels in the neck, legs and abdomen. Screening includes: Carotid Ultrasound � Assesses the carotid artery in the neck. Fatty deposits or plaque may prevent blood flow to the brain resulting in stroke. Ankle Brachial Index � Assesses the circulation of the leg arteries by measuring the blood pressures on both arms and at the level of both ankles. Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm � Assesses aorta for weakness or bulge. Abdominal aortic aneurysms are caused by a weakening or damage in the wall of the abdominal aorta.

* Foot Care Clinic = $20 ��A clinical nurse specialist clips, files and grinds down thick nails, corns and calluses. Also includes foot inspection and massage.
