Kirsch named September Employee of the Month Tim Kirsch, building maintenance specialist for Facilities Management at The University of South Dakota, has been selected as the Career Service Employee of the Month for September.
University of South Dakota President James W. Abbott presented the award during a celebration on Sept. 24.
Kirsch was nominated for the award by Professor John Banasiak in the College of Fine Arts, for his efforts in tackling various technical problems and for his electrical expertise.
"I would have electrocuted myself many years ago if it weren't for his generosity and helpfulness," Banasiak said. "Not only does Tim do an exceptional job, but he does it with a smile and good humor. He is a great asset to the operation of this facility."
When asked to share a few words during the award presentation about his job and being named the September Employee of the Month, Kirsch said, "I am at a loss for words. And that doesn't happen very often."
Michael Rath, who is Kirsch's supervisor, said, "Tim is a dedicated employee who comes to work every day with a smile on his face and he's very dedicated to the customers here at USD."
Kirsch and his wife, Linda live in Vermillion with their daughter, Lora and son, Sam.
