National Physical Therapy Month celebrated at Sioux Valley Vermillion October is National Physical Therapy Month and the Sioux Valley Vermillion Medical Center Physical Therapy Department thanks the people of Vermillion and the surrounding communities for their support throughout the year.
The theme for this year is "Get Fit For Life," and the physical therapy staff encourages people of all ages to stay healthy and exercise.
Physical therapy can teach patients specific exercises, stretches and techniques to address problems and prevent them from reoccurring. A physical therapist is a specialist trained to work with a patient to restore their activity, strength and motion following an injury or surgery. Physical therapy is important in the treatment of wound care, joint pain and problems, women's health issues, pediatrics, foot pain and balance problems.
Sioux Valley Vermillion Medical Center is staffed with four therapists including Bob Brockevelt, P.T., rehabilitation director; Kari Holden, P.T.; Andrea Erickson, P.T.; and Matt Hoyt, P.T.
