SADD chapter to host speaker Vermillion High School's Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD) will host speaker Laura Kahlandt, a USD senior and survivor of a drinking and driving accident. In 2001, Kahlandt was severely injured when she was involved in a car accident after leaving a party. Since then, she has given public presentations about the dangers of drinking and driving.
The presentation will be in the basement of the Public Safety Center on Oct. 28, at 7 p.m. The public is welcome.
The local SADD chapter consists of 47 Vermillion High School students, who activelypromote SADD's mission of providing prevention and intervention to students on issues of destructive decisions. SADD is an inclusive organization that does not seek to punish or alienate those who make unfortunate choices.
SADD's aim is to inform, educate, support, and empower young people to make positive decisions. For more information, contact Deputy Dallas Schnack at the Clay County Sheriff's Office, or visit www.geocities.com/ claycosro.
