Soccer team sets record for victories in a season The South Dakota women's soccer team (11-2, 2-0 NCC) continued its impressive run as members set a school record for wins in a season, with the 2-1 conference win over the St. Cloud State Huskies (5-7, 0-2 NCC), in St. Cloud, MN.
USD bettered the mark set by the 2001 team that finished the season at 10-6-1.
Jessica Schnell (Lincoln, NE) scored her fourth goal of the season at the 8:37 mark in the match. Her goal was assisted by Tina Brummer (Gretna, NE.)
The Huskies charged back to tie the game at 26:40 when Anne Litecky scored her fourth goal of the season with an assist from Heidi Westrum and Betsy Pratt.
The Coyotes marked the game winner at 29:01 when Ashley Ervin (Western Springs, IL) scored with an assist from Brummer. The goal was Ervin's seventh and it was Brummer's third assist this season.
South Dakota finished with 14 shots, compared to eight for St. Cloud State.
Candice Martinez (Aurora, CO.) had four saves, while allowing one goal in 90 minutes of play in goal for USD.
Huskies goalie Stephanie Brendal recorded eight saves and allowed both goals.
The Coyotes are at Mankato, MN to play an 11 a.m. match against the Minnesota State Mavericks on Oct. 9.
