Tanager cross country teams place 2nd, 3rd at regionals by Jim Prosser Eleven schools with over 200 runners were represented at the Region 3A Cross Country meet in Lennox, Friday Oct. 15, with competition in both boys, and girls' varsity and JV divisions.
Boys' varsity finishes � Lennox, 16, Vermillion, 64, and Canton, 66, were the top three teams.
There were 58 contestants in the 5K meter run.Varsity Tanager placers were: Chad Tiegen, sixth, Andrew Manning, 15th; Chris Tiegen, 21st; and Casey Carlson, 22nd, to account for the team's score. Michael Preszler and C.J. Harden were at 30th and 32nd places among the finishers.
In the JV division, Tanager placers were: D.J. Donahoe, ninth; J.R Moore, 14th; Brody Stone, 16th; Raleigh Tiahrt 24th; Sam Robinson, 32nd; Dan Day 33rd; Sam Robison, 27th; Tevi Boehrns 36th; and Toney Huber 40th. Also in the race were Michael Dendinger and Jeff Donnelly. There were 52 runners in this division.
For the girls' team finishes: Parkston, 39, Bersford, 50 and Vermillion, 60, were the top three. Fifty-four runners were entered and Tanager placers were: Katarina Gombosz, third; Emily Renner, seventh; Annie Carlson, 19th; Rebecca Girlinghouse, 31st; and Morgan Brooks, 34th.
With 44 competitors in this division, JV Tanager results: Sarah Day, fourth; Amber Falud, 18th; Julie Renner, 20th; Steffani Donahoe, 30th; Kate Renner, 40th; and Samantha Cooper, 44th.
