Tanager volleyball team wallops Alcester/Hudson by Jim Prosser On Oct. 4, the Tanager varsity swept a three-game match against the Alcester/Hudson Cubs 25-10, 25-12, 25-18 at the VHS gym.

"We really found ourselves in these three games as we gave them quite a trouncing," said coach Lenni Billberg.

Stats for individual Tanager members were: Melissa Olson � 12 A, 7 K, 3 B, 7 pos, 1 ace; Ellen Odson � 13 SA, 18 pos, 2 aces; Britt Weydert � 6 P, 5 A, 2 K, 10 pos; Michelle Olson � 8 P, 12 A, 7 K, 7 B, 4 D, 13 pos; Annie Carlson � 11 P, 14 A, 5 K, 4 D, 7 pos. Team season record, 8-8.

The JV team took a 25-13, 25-13 double win in less than a half hour. Kinsey Weydert led the offense with 15 set assists, 3 blocks, 2 kills, 4 pos, 2 aces; Krista Froke � 3 blocks, 1 assist, 2 pos, 2 aces; Paige Prosser � 1 block, 1 serve assist, 4 kills; Becky Hanson � 5 pos, 3 aces, 3 digs; Annie Roche � 15 passes, 1 serve assist, 1 block, 2 kills, 3 pos, 4 digs; Alicia Brown � 2 blocks, 1 assist, 5 kills, 2 pos, 1 ace; Kristina Blythe led the team in digs with 5.

The freshman team won 25-17, 19-25, 15-12 and the team leaders were: Alicia Brown � 3 D, 3 K, 2 aces; Rachel Odens � 4 kills; Sara Bye � 2 digs; Rachel Lorenz � 10 set assists; and MeagAnn LeCates � 2 blocks.
