Yankton lawyer named to lead AARP legal services Yankton attorney Scott R. Swier was recently selected to lead the AARP Legal Services Network in South Dakota.
"Having Mr. Swier become the very first attorney in the state to be approved through the rigorous application process of becoming an attorney in the AARP Legal Services program is a very exciting development for our members in South Dakota," said Sarah Jennings, AARP South Dakota State Director. "Access to basic legal services at a discount is something that we believe adds tremendous value for our membership and brings another resource to the table for AARP members when tackling difficult legal matters that can some times surface later in life."
The AARP-Legal Services Network is committed to securing prompt and effective legal services for the 89,000 AARP members in South Dakota. As an LSN attorney, Swier was required to submit to a rigorous review process in order to maintain the high quality of legal services provided to AARP members.
Swier is a graduate of Mount Marty College and The University of South Dakota School of Law, where he served on the Board of Editors for the South Dakota Law Review. Following law school, Swier served as law clerk for the judges of the Seventh Judicial Circuit in Rapid City. He serves on the board of directors for several local, state, and national organizations and was recently named South Dakota's "Young Lawyer of the Year" by the State Bar Association's Young Lawyers Section.
Swier is a partner with Miller & Swier, Attorneys at Law, Prof. LLC in Yankton. Under the LSN agreement, Swier will provide an array of legal services for South Dakota's AARP members, including Estate Planning, Personal Injury Litigation, Business Litigation, Family Law, and Small Business Law.
