Young volleyball teams echo varsity at Canton by Jim Prosser On Thursday, Oct. 14, the Tanager freshman and junior varsity teams recorded 2-0 wins over the non-varsity Lady C-Hawks teams at the Canton gym.
Coach Lori Jerred evaluated her team's 25-21, 25-19 performance.
"The girls played great on offense with 17 kills. Paige Prosser and Brittni Stewart each recorded 5 Ks," she said. "The Tanagers were 43 of 45 serving for a 95 percent effort. Kinsey Weydert had 14 set assists to aid the attack. Defensively we are playing better.
Anne Roche and Stacey Joy each had 5 digs. Overall, the JVs are 9-3 on the season and played Beresford on Oct. 19.
The freshman team coached by Leah Bakke also won the two game match.
"The girls played great offense with Alicia Brown and Rachel Odens leading with kills. Brown also led in digs, along with Sara Bye," Jerred said.
