Aga, Jensen receive student award Laura Aga and Chris Jensen received the Vermillion High School Students of the Month award for October. First National Bank in Vermillion will present $100 scholarships to them for their efforts and leadership in the classroom and in their extra-curricular activities.
Aga "is a true leader in the music classroom," according to her faculty endorsement. Her activities include Show Choir, Jazz Band, National Honor Society, volleyball and health tutor. She has been a two-year S.D. All-State Choir member, has received Grand Champion 4-H Senior Dog Showmanship, and has received the Farm Bureau Community Service Award.
Her college plans are to attend either The University of South Dakota or South Dakota State University to double major in health and physical education and to minor in business management. Her career goals are to become a teacher or to own a fitness center. Her parents are Lars and Rebecca Aga.
Jensen also has a variety of interests and activities, which include Jazz Choir, Science Club, National Honor Society, tennis and the spring musical. He has been honored as a S.D. All-State Choir member, an alternate to Boys State, and a Student Council representative.
Jensen's faculty nomination describes him as a "good kid that is hardworking, upbeat, and helpful to others." Presently, he intends to study either aerospace engineering or cellular/genetic medicine at college. He is the son of Pete and Jann Jensen.
