Borders earns scholarship Extension educators from Clay and McCook counties have won prestigious scholarships.
McCook County Youth Development/4-H Educator Karen Beranek and Clay County Agronomy Educator April Borders each received a Lloyd and Avis Wilson Scholarship at the 2004 convention of the South Dakota Cooperative Extension Service.
The scholarships are for professional Extension staff members working toward advanced degrees in Extension education, animal science, plant science, other agricultural studies, or family and consumer sciences.
Beranek is working toward a master's degree in family and consumer science from South Dakota State University. Borders is working toward a master's in curriculum and technological education from SDSU.
The scholarships were awarded Oct. 27 during the South Dakota Cooperative Extension Service's annual conference in Brookings.
