North Dakota toppled by USD volleyball team The South Dakota women's volleyball team (16-12, 8-2 NCC) ended its 2004 home campaign on a high note, as they defeated North Dakota (8-19, 0-10 NCC), 3-0 (32-30, 30-25, 32-30), at the DakotaDome on Parent's Day.
With the victory, USD moves into a tie for first place in the North Central Conference with Minnesota-Duluth at 8-2 in league play.
The Coyotes, who finished with a 6-2 record in the DakotaDome, hit .190 (55 K-26 E-153 TA) compared to .121 (44 K-25 E-157 TA) for UND.
North Dakota had numerous chances to win games, especially the third game, but USD persisted despite being down by as many as eight in the third.
Senior Lindsey Soukup (Lincoln, NE) led all players with 16 kills in 46 attempts. She added 15 digs for her 19th double-double for the season.
Junior Kristen Miller (Papillion, NE) was the only other player to make double-digits in kills, as she had 13 to go with 14 digs.
Coyote setter Liz Selzer (Papillion, NE) had 43 assists and 12 digs, while Lacey Ross (Omaha, NE) led all players with 19 digs.
Keyndyll Jones and Aileen Cahill each had nine kills to pace UND, while Jamie Skadeland led North Dakota with 29 assists and 16 digs.
South Dakota will end the season on the road next weekend when they travel to Augustana on Nov. 12 and St. Cloud State on Nov. 13. Both matches are scheduled for 7 p.m.
