Swimming, diving teams compete in duals The South Dakota men's swimming and diving team (1-2) dropped a pair of duals, falling to Iowa, 160 to 108 and Truman State, 161 to 117 on Friday at the University of Iowa.
John Murman of Lincoln, NE, led South Dakota in a strong performance against Division I Iowa and Division II national power Truman State. Murman won an individual event (100 free in 47.32) and finished second in another (50 free in 21.41). He also anchored the winning 200 free relay squad that finished in 1:25.92. That squad also included Dirk Craft of Palmer, AK, Tyler Scheer of Lincoln, NE, and Tim Byers of Billings, MT.
Jeremy Gamet (Rapid City) was first in the 1M diving.
Next for the USD swimming and diving squad is a home triangular with Minnesota State and Metro State on Nov. 19 at the DakotaDome.
The South Dakota women's swimming and diving squad fell to 2-1 in duals this season by dropping a 134.5 to 94.5 decision to Nebraska-Omaha at Omaha, Neb., on Friday, Nov. 12.
The South Dakota squad claimed three titles in the dual meet. Senior Audrey Donley (Arvada, CO) won the 500-yard freestyle (5:21.81) and was second in the 1,650-free in 18:05.83. Freshman Megan Gordon (Grand Rapids, MN) captured the 200-back title and finished second in the 200-IM (2:19.08) while also competing on the 400 medley relay, which finished second. Freshman Leita Rolfe (Newcastle, WY) won the 200 breast (2:29.53).
