Cancer fighters look for the finish line Clay County residents will put on their walking shoes and fight cancer by heading for the "Finish Line" on Sunday, Feb. 20.
Finish Line (formerly called Relay For Life) is sponsored by the Clay County Chapter of the American Cancer Society. The relay around the track at the DakotaDome begins at noon and ends at 6 p.m. on Feb. 20.
"This will be a special event for Clay County. Everyone is welcome, whether you have a team or not," said Chair Janet Mount.
Each participant will pay $10 to register, plus raise money from family and friends. Top teams and individuals will win prizes donated by Clay County businesses.
The annual event features food, fun, friendship and fund raising. Money raised goes toward research, education and services for cancer patients and families. As in past years, the event will include an opening ceremony, a symbolic walk around the track by area cancer survivors and luminarias to remember those who have died and honor those who have faced cancer.
