Tanager freshmen down Lennox Orioles by Jim Prosser The Vermillion Tanagers downed the Lennox Orioles 27-23 in boys� basketball Dec. 14 at home as the winners led after each quarter.
�We played hard against a solid Lennox team,� said Vermillion freshmen coach Eric VanLaecken. �I thought we played well defensively.�
The Tanagers led 6-4 at the end of the first period, went into the locker room up 12-6 at halftime, and then led 20-13 going into the final period.
The Vermillion freshmen now have a record of 2-0.
Vermillion hit 2 of 6 three-point attempts and sank 5 of 6 from the line. The Tanagers connected on 10 of 25 field goals, while Lennox was 9 of 26 from the field. Lennox connected on 0 of 4 three-pointers and sank 5 of 10 from the line.
The Tanagers had several important contributors in the win.
�Dan Storm came off the bench and played well,� coach VanLaecken said.
