Tanagers unable to thaw cold shooting by Jim Prosser The Vermillion Tanagers were downed by the Lennox Orioles 60-45 in boys� basketball Dec. 14 at home as the Tanagers shot just 35 percent from the field.
�We played really good in the first half,� said Vermillion varsity coach Jason Huska. �In the second half, we did not execute the game plan. We can be a better team if we work together and do things each kid is capable of. We will get better. This was a disappointing loss.�
The Tanagers committed only seven turnovers, but still picked up the loss.
The Tanagers fell behind 12-8 at the end of the first period, trailed 30-25 at halftime, and then trailed 43-30 going into the fourth quarter.
Vermillion remained without a win at 0-3, while Lennox is now 1-0.
Vermillion made 3 of 16 three-pointers and made 12 of 24 free throw tries. The Tanagers sank 15 of 43 field goals, while Lennox was 22 of 46 from the field. Lennox made 6 of 16 three-pointers and hit 10 of 17 from the line.
