Club membership drive has begun Members of the Wakonda Community Club attending the first meeting of the organization on Wednesday, Jan. 5, learned of the present membership status and agreed upon procedures to complete the drive.
The "Early Bird" sign up and current members who have paid their current dues account for 20 to 25 percent of the normal membership.
The Wakonda Community Club is involved with numerous projects and events during the year to promote, support, and encourage the Wakonda school and community. For the past number of years the club has annually spent $2,500 to $3,000 in its efforts.
The Community Club membership drive's request for dues payment has been divided into several groups local businesses, school personnel, out of town businesses to be contacted by mail, Heritage Manor employees, and a good share of the local contacts by several volunteers.
Dues are $5 per year for an individual. Dues may be paid at the First Premier Bank in Wakonda. Your help is needed and is very much appreciated.
The near 20 members present for the meeting heard brief reports from the school, Heritage Manor, the recent Blood Bank drive, Sheriff Andy Howe, and club members awarded several belated lighting awards for the recent holiday lighting.
The next scheduled meeting is planned for Wednesday, Feb. 2.
