Estate planning workshop set Feb. 24 in Flandreau An estate planning workshop is set for Feb. 24 in Flandreau.
The Planning for the Future conference runs from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Royal River Hotel and Convention Center in Flandreau.
The program looks at the tax implications of transferring the family business, long-term care alternatives, methods of transfer, developing a will or living trust, pre-planning a funeral, family dynamics and other topics. The keynote speaker is estate planning attorney Carolyn A. Thompson of Sioux Falls-based Thompson Law.
The cost is $25 per person, or $35 per couple, for those who register by Feb. 10. Register by sending name, address, e-mail, and phone number, with check, to McCook County Extension Office, Box 130, Salem SD 57058. Make checks payable to McCook County Extension Office.
Registration will be $35 per person or $45 per couple at the door. A block of rooms have been set aside for those who want to stay at the Royal River Hotel either before or after the conference. The reduced rate is $52.47 for those who register by Feb. 10 and mention that they are attending the Planning for the Future conference.
