Lennox rally too much for Vermillion By Jim Prosser The Vermillion girls� junior varsity Tanagers ended up on the wrong side of a fourth-quarter rally and lost an upset bid against the Lennox Ladybirds 36-29 in girls� basketball Jan. 10 at Lennox.
Vermillion had led by one after the third quarter.
Kinsey Weydert had her best game of the season with five boards and two steals.
�Kinsey came to play tonight with a new go-get-em attitude,� said Vermillion JV coach Lenni Billberg.
Lennox jumped in front 8-7 after the first quarter, and held an edge of 10-5 in the second quarter. Vermillion had an advantage of 10-3 in the third period to take a lead of 22-21 going into the final period.
Vermillion saw its record fall to 2-3, while Lennox upped its mark to 3-2.
Vermillion hit 2 of 6 three-point tries and made 15 of 28 free throw attempts. The Tanagers made 6 of 36 from the field, while Lennox was 12 of 39 from the field. Lennox sank 2 of 6 three-pointers and made 10 of 17 free throw tries.
The Tanagers had several noteworthy individual efforts in defeat.
�Annika Sjolie played tough defense and had her best offensive showing of the year with five board and eight points,� coach Billberg said.
