Poor-shooting Tanagers beaten by Lennox 48-19 By Jim Prosser The Vermillion Tanagers were beaten by the Lennox Orioles 48-19 in boys� basketball Jan. 14 at Lennox as the Tanagers shot just 27 percent from the field.

�Mentally, we are not in the game,� said Vermillion freshmen coach Eric VanLaecken. �We need to do a better job starting the game and recognizing every situation on the floor.�

The Tanagers fell behind 12-5 after the first quarter, trailed 26-9 at halftime, and then trailed 32-13 going into the final period.

The loss dropped the Vermillion freshmen to a record of 1-3, while Lennox improved to 4-0.

Vermillion freshmen connected on 0 of 5 three-point attempts and sank 1 of 5 free throw attempts. The Tanagers connected on 9 of 33 field goal attempts, while Lennox was 20 of 49 from the field. Lennox connected on 2 of 6 three-pointers and hit 6 of 11 free throw tries.
