Students of the Month First Bank & Trust in Vermillion announced the awarding of the VHS November Students of the Month to Matthew Preszler and Ellen Odson. These senior students have shown exceptional classroom and extracurricular effort at Vermillion High School. Each student will receive a $100 scholarship from First Bank & Trust.
Preszler�s �enthusiasm for learning is irrepressible. He�s a real ?spark� in the classroom while maintaining good behavior and good grades,� according to his faculty endorsement. He has been active in basketball, track, National Honor Society, Student Council, German Club and the musical. He was part of the Governor�s Cabinet at Boys State and this fall was selected as the Homecoming King.
Preszler plans to attend the South Dakota School of Mines in Rapid City to major in electrical engineering and pre-medicine. His parents are Dr. Todd and Rachelle Preszler.
Odson has a great array of activities including volleyball, band, choir, basketball, German Club, National Honor Society and SADD. Among her honors are choir �Top of Class� in 2003, All-Region 4A 1st Team in volleyball, and band �Feature Soloist� award in both 2002 and 2003.
Her recommendation from the faculty indicated that �Ellen is a fantastic music student. She is a leader in and out of the classroom.� Odson intends to major in nutrition or exercise science at college with the eventual expectation of becoming an orthopedic surgeon. Her parents are Bruce and Susan Odson.
