Tanager freshmen lose 4th quarter lead By Jim Prosser The Vermillion freshmen Tanagers lost a fourth-quarter lead and were downed by the Lennox Ladybirds 48-44 in girls� basketball Jan. 10 at Lennox.
VHS had led by seven after the third quarter.
�The girls all played hard and performed well for their first game,� said VHS freshmen coach Leah Bakke. �We have room for improvement, but are working very hard.�
The Tanagers led 14-10 at the end of the first period, led 21-20 at halftime, and then led 32-25 after the third period.
Vermillion�s freshmen team is still looking for the first win of the season, now standing at 0-1, while Lennox is now 2-0.
VHS made 1 of 5 three-point attempts and hit 19 of 33 from the line. The Tanagers sank 12 of 40 field goal attempts, while Lennox was 19 of 47 from the field. Lennox hit 1 of 6 three-point attempts and hit 9 of 19 free throw tries.
