Tanagers shot down by EP-J Huskies 82-65 By Jim Prosser The Vermillion Tanagers were shot down by the Elk Point-Jefferson Huskies 82-65 in boys� basketball Jan. 18 at Elk Point.

�As the common saying goes, ?If you try running with the thoroughbred racers you�ll probably finish second,�� said Vermillion varsity coach Jason Huska. �We didn�t follow our game plan too well. We couldn�t control the tempo and suffered the consequences. A disappointing loss.�

The Vermillion varsity lost the game from three-point range, making 3 of 12 from long range compared with 10 of 20 for EP-J.

The Tanagers trailed 16-6 at the end of the first period, trailed 43-33 at halftime, and then trailed 62-51 after the third quarter.

Vermillion saw its record fall to 4-5, while EP-J upped its mark to 8-2.

Vermillion sank 6 of 10 free throw. The Tanagers made 28 of 65 field goal attempts, while EP-J was 32 of 53 from the field. The Huskies connected on 8 of 11 free throws.
