Teigen is recipient of USD employee honor Sandy Teigen, program assistant in the nursing department at The University of South Dakota, is the Career Service Employee of the month for January. President James W. Abbott presented the award to Teigen at a December ceremony in Old Main.
Teigen is known for her friendly personality and outstanding work ethic throughout the department.
"Sandy Teigen is the most outstanding office person I have ever worked with. She is pleasant and supportive with anyone who calls this office; she always offers a 'How can I help you?'" said June Larson, chair of the department.
Teigen was pleased with the honor but took the time to thank her co-workers and show appreciation for being part of a great office team.
"I tell you, I couldn't work with a better group of people. I couldn't do my job if it wasn't for all of them. It's truly an honor to be part of this team and being recognized for all that," she said.
"Sandy is a tremendous asset to the nursing program. Her positive attitude, commitment to excellence, unfailing dependability, and supreme organizational skills are just a few of her qualities that set her apart," said Lisa Feller, assistant professor and director of outreach for the nursing department.
Teigen and her husband, Rick, live in Vermillion. They have a son, Mathew, who is in the Air Force and twin sons, Chad and Chris, seniors at Vermillion High School.
