USD picks up 11 titles at Bill Hillenbrand Invite The University of South Dakota men's and women's track and field team recorded 11 titles and had 18 overall in the two-day Bill Hillenbrand Invitational that concluded Saturday, Jan. 15, at the DakotaDome.
The USD women received first place finishes from Heidi Muellenburg (Redfield), 60 meter-dash, 7.92; Stephanie Gebhart (Elkton), 400-meter dash, 57.95; Amber Stoltenberg (Elkton), 500-meter dash, 1:18.23; Kassy Laber (Parkston), 800-meter run, 2:17.79; Aimee Nielsen (Mason City, IA), 3,000-meter run, 10:26.35; and Kiki Smith (Wahpeton, ND), long jump, 17'11.''
Amy Duba (Sioux Falls) was second in the 1,000-meter run, 3:10.63 and Kaylee Keating (Sioux Falls) was second in the 3,000-meter run in 11:00.34. Smith was second in the 60-meter hurdles in 9.17. Carrie Gonsor (Pierre) finished second in the high jump at 4'10'' and Marci Miller (Rapid City) finished second in the pole vault at 11'06.'' Susan Chamberlain (Earling, IA) was second in the shot put with a throw of 41'05.25.'' The USD women also won the 4×400-meter relay in 3:55.65.
For the men, titlists included Josh Jeffery (Spearfish) in the 800-meter run in 1:55.87; James Jeffery (Spearfish), 1,000-meter run in 2:33.27; Tony Turgeon (Sioux Falls), 3,000-meter run and Derek Gearman (Lennox), high jump at 6'10''. Gearman was also second in the long jump at 21'02.75.'' The Coyotes 4×400-meter relay finished second in the 4×400-meter relay in 3:25.31.
